Stan Barstow (1928-)

A Kind of Loving

Stan Barstow, the renowned Yorkshire novelist, was born on 28th June 1928 in Horbury but grew up in the neighbouring town of Ossett.

He is best known for his 1960 novel A Kind of Loving which has long been used as a set text in British schools and which has been variously translated into a movie, a television series, a radio play and a stage play.

His other works include Joby, which was dramatised as a 1975 television play with Patrick Stewart in the cast.
