Gargrave is a small village on the River Aire four miles northwest of Skipton. It is on the very edge of the Yorkshire Dales.

Gargrave is at the lowest crossing point of the Pennines, known as the Aire Gap. As a result, main road, railway and canal all pass through the village. The main road is the Leeds-Kendal road (A65); the railway is Airedale Line with rail services to Leeds and Bradford to the east, and Morecambe and Kendal to the west; the canal is the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

The village is also on the route of the Pennine Way, and so it is a popular destination for hikers.
