Grassington is a picturesque village in Wharfedale, about 9 miles from Bolton Abbey. It is Upper Wharfedale's main residential and tourist centre, and it provides an excellent base for exploring the high moorland and riverside walks of the area.

Grouped around its small cobbled square are a number of shops offering food, clothing and gifts, alongside small cafes, restaurants and hotels. Away from the square are groups of quaint and well-preserved old houses.

There is a farmers market on the third Sunday of each month.

During most months there are Craft Fairs in the Town Hall, and numerous artists hold exhibitions of their work at a variety of venues in the area.

An annual event is the Grassington Festival of Music and Arts. Every summer Grassington plays host to some of the best performers in the music and arts world, with an enormous number of diverse performances and events taking place during the last fortnight in June.
