Oxenhope

Oxenhope is a former mill village near Haworth. It is on the shoulder of the Worth Valley and is the starting point for some fine moorland walks.

Oxenhope is the terminus for the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. There is an Exhibition Shed which contains locomotives and carriages not currently in use and explains their history and that of the line as a whole.

The Oxenhope Straw Race takes place every July. This is a team event in which competitors complete a course around the village carrying a bale of straw, stopping at each pub on the route for a pint of beer. Many contestants take part in fancy dress. The event benefits local charities and always draws many spectators.
