Wetherby

Wetherby is an attractive, historic market town on the River Wharfe. It was formerly an important staging post on the Great North Road.

In the town centre there are many interesting small shops, tea &coffee shops and restaurants. For visitors there are pleasant riverside walks and picnic areas and a free car park by the riverside Bandstand.

There is an Historical Trail which helps visitors to explore the town centre and gives a fascinating insight into Wetherby's past. Historic buildings along the Trail are marked by blue plaques. Leaflets about the Trail are available in shops and at the Library in Westgate.

Popular with the locals is Wetherby's renowned farmers' market which is held every second Sunday of the month (except November when it is held on the third Sunday).
